Emergency Dental Scheme (EDS)

Curran Dental accepts the Emergency Dental Scheme (EDS) for residents in Port Lincoln and the Eyre Peninsula. The EDS ensures that all South Australians have access to the dental care they need, regardless of their location or financial situation.

In South Australia, the scheme is a voucher-based service that provides access to dental care for eligible residents who have a sudden and unexpected dental emergency. If you require urgent care and the SA Dental Service are unable to provide the necessary service or treatment, you may be able to receive assistance at a private dental clinic that accepts the EDS.

Typically, patients must first attend their SA Dental clinic to ensure eligibility and collect the necessary EDS form. However, this process can be expedited in extreme circumstances, allowing patients to forgo attending an SA Dental.

This program is especially useful for time-sensitive emergencies such as:

  • Knocked-out teeth

  • Damaged dentures

  • Sports-related dental trauma

  • Facial swelling

  • Severe toothaches

  • Tooth abscess and infections

If you are experiencing a dental emergency, don't hesitate to call Curran Dental Reception on (08) 8682 3478.

For residents in remote areas without an SA Dental Clinic within 90km, we may treat dental emergencies that fall under the EDS without the need of an EDS form if the patient needs care urgently.
