Tooth Decay
What is Tooth Decay?
Tooth decay, also known as dental caries or cavities, is a common dental problem caused by a combination of factors, including bacteria in the mouth, sugary foods and drinks, or poor oral hygiene. It is the most common chronic disease in Australia, and the ADA reports that 1 in 3 adults over 15 has untreated tooth decay, while 1 in 3 children aged 5 - 6 years have already had tooth decay.
Signs and Symptoms
Recognising the early signs of tooth decay can help prevent more complex issues later on.
Tooth Sensitivity - Increased sensitivity to hot, cold, or sweet foods and beverages. You may also experience pain when eating.
Toothaches - Persistent or intermittent pain in the affected tooth.
Visible Holes - Small holes or dark spots on the surface of your tooth.
Bad Breath - Persistent bad breath that may be accompanied by an unpleasant taste.

Our Treatment Options
Dental Fillings - We use tooth coloured dental filling to repair small to medium-sized cavities.
Dental Crowns - For more extensive decay, a crown may be placed to restore the tooth's shape and function.
Root Canal Therapy - When decay reaches the tooth's pulp, a root canal may be necessary to save the tooth.
Tooth Extraction - In severe cases, extraction may be the best option to prevent further damage.
Dental Fissure Sealants - Protective coatings applied to the grooves and pits in your teeth to prevent decay.
